The last thing I worked on, was a lamp shade. When I bought it, it was old and yellow....yellow!! And everyone knows: I absolutely do not like yellow and orange at all!!
But the shape was pretty nice and how I wanted to have one, so i bought it.
Eines meiner letzten Werke ist dieser Lampenschirm. Ja, ihr sehr richtig, er ist gelb!! Und jeder der mich kennt, weiss, dass ich gelb und orange nicht ausstehen kann. Zudem war er alt, aber die Form schön.
I began with ripping off all the horrible material and started to sew (of course every single stitch by hand) tulle lace on the metal scaffolding.
Also habe ich damit angefangen, dass ich den Stoff heruntergerissen und eine Tüllspitze von Hand aufgenäht habe.
After finishing the lamp shade I suddenly realised, that it was originally ment as a shade for a table lamp. Therefore the holding for the light bulb was now definitely far to below and almost under the shade. So I had to build another metal construction :-)
Nachdem ich dann alles fein säuberlich angenäht und den Schirm fertig gestellt hatte, bemerkte ich, dass er eigentlich nicht zum hängen, sondern für eine Stehlampe gedacht war. Somit war die Halterung viel zu weit unten und die Glühbirne schaute aus dem Schirm unten heraus. Was nun? Ich bastelte einfach einen neue, zusätzliche Metallhalterung :-)
An other shabby-project was that lamp... I like the as well the form, who's like an old lamp. In fact I bought it new. But how do I get the old and shabby look?
Hier ein weiteres Shabby-projekt stellte diese Lampe dar. Auch bei ihr mag ich die Form, die an Lampen vergangener Zeiten erinnert, aber in Wirklichkeit habe ich sie ganz neu gekauft. Aber wie bekam ich den alten und schäbigen look?
After several experiments, an intensive search through the net and especially the art supplies shops and do-it-yourself-stores, I found something - thanks to chemistry! :-)
Nach etlichen Versuchen, langem stöbern im Internet und vor allem in sämtlichen Bastel- und
Do-it-yourself-Läden hatte ich etwas gefunden - Chemie sei dank! :-)
Just a simple work I've done with this tiny stool. I remember me playing with it when I was a child and to that time it was already old. Till now it was getting dusty in the detached house in the garden. And I brought it back to (a white and shabby) life. Unfortunately I don't have I picture of the previous state.
Nur eine kleine Arbeit war dieser kleine Hocker. Ich erinnere mich, schon als kleines Kind mit ihm gespielt zu haben und auch da schon war er alt. Bis jetzt ist er im Gartenhaus verstaubt und ich habe ihm wieder neues (white and shabby-)Leben eingehaucht und freue mich immer daran, wenn er in der Küche steht und gute Dienste leistet. Leider habe ich kein "Vorher"-Foto.
